October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. In order to promote awareness, provide increased access to services, and share information on this disease that has personally affected so many of us, my office is sponsoring
no-cost mammogram screenings with Project Renewal on
Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00 am to 5:00pm. Screenings will take place on the south side of
Straus Park (W. 106th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue).
Women who are 40 years or older, live in New York City, and have not received a mammogram in the past 12 months are automatically eligible to receive a no-cost mammogram. If you meet these criteria but are under 40 years of age, you may be eligible to receive a no-cost mammogram.
To schedule an appointment for a mammogram, please call Project Renewal at 1-800-564-6868.
This screening event will be held in conjunction with Friends of Straus Park's "Art in the Park." This wonderful community event will showcase local artists and their talents, including photography, paintings, and jewelry.
Given the importance of early detection to treating this disease, I hope that you are able to make an appointment or can pass this information along to someone who may benefit from it.
